Wanted: Type Drawers (aka: cases) (West Bottoms & Brookside)

Many of you are discovering that your homes’ busiest dust collector
is no longer worth what you paid for it. Here’s a way to recover
some of its value.

The Kansas City Center for the Ink & Paper Arts
a NFP community printmakers’ studio, needs old printing equipment.

We have boxes of type fonts that require cases–(cabinets, too).

Because our budget is barely covering the KCP&L,
we would like to offer–in exchange for your type case–
a hand-lettered full name of your choice on fine paper
(Canson, Ingres, Cranes, &c.) in your selection from a range of styles.
This will be carefully rendered by a retired greeting card artist
with more than 40 years of Calligraphy & Lettering Design practice.

If you live/work close to us–we will be glad to pick up the case
but we’d rather show you around the studio
and talk about your name design choices.

More furnishings….

I got Sarah Gibson’s old parts cabinet set up for tool storage in the east end of the studio, this week.
SG, our new mechanic, & is making progress bringing together our machine shop there, too.
I delivered the Lathe yesterday.

Our Bicycle work-stand is ready for use by studio members, 816 Collective members, and any Hobb’s Building associates.
We have tools, airpumps, tube patches, lube, &c.

Solstice Season Updates and Progress

Last Monday KCCI&PA took in some additional tools and furniture as a result of the Acme Bicycle Company closing. Shop co-owner Sarah Gibson gave the Studio a tool cabinet, several lights, a floor fence, and the use of several of her power tools. We now also have a slat wall on wheels we can use for the display of small print product.

Wyatt & Tim have installed a platform for the studio work sink on Tuesday and Steve may be plumbing it up today. Yesterday I painted the wall behind the sink. I’m going to try to do the same for the bathroom this weekend. I got the outside stainless stuff polished up a bit but in the bottom of one sink someone has poured concrete or paint with a powdered stone component…I only know that it’s stuck stubborn to the metal.

Next we need to build a slate table. Any volunteers?
